Join us for this launch webinar to delve into the paper’s findings and discuss them with an international expert panel. The new Discussion paper clarifies key concepts and approaches related to strengthening synergies and tackling trade-offs, and presents concrete recommendations for action. A special focus lies on improving policy coherence, integrating social considerations, and unlocking funding for synergy measures such as nature-based solutions (NbS). The publication is based on the valuable expert contributions gathered at the international workshop “Strengthening synergies for biodiversity and climate in multifunctional landscapes” organised by BfN in 2022.

Programme of the webinar

  • Keynote by Karin Zaunberger (European Commission)
  • Brief introduction into BfN’s work on biodiversity and climate by Dr. Bettina Hedden-Dunkhorst (BfN)
  • Overview of the Discussion paper and its key messages by Lisa Kopsieker and Irina Kozban (BfN)
  • Panel discussion with the authors and Q&A, with Dr. Rocio Diaz-Chavez (Imperial College London), Kristin Meyer (UNDRR), Dr. Johannes Förster (UFZ) and Sarah Taylor (Natural England)
