BfN has worked for many years with partners and organisations in African countries and regions. Over time, this work has largely focused on cooperation involving biosphere reserves. Biosphere reserves are model regions that link participative nature conservation with socioeconomic development, education and research. They are thus a useful instrument in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – also known as the Global Goals.
