TEEB Studien weltweit
TEEB (The Economics of Ecosystems
and Biodiversity) has evolved into an important process that contributes to safeguarding ecosystems
and biodiversity. In October 2010, results from global
level assessment
and valuation studies, including cases from many different places, were presented at the Conference of the Parties of the
Convention on Biological Diversity (
CBD). Meanwhile, numerous countries started to get engaged in national
TEEB processes, aiming to reveal facts
and figures and to encourage policy advances that maintain ecosystem services
and biodiversity at national
and local levels. In order to provide a forum to exchange
and discuss progress
and challenges of country studies
and to further the implementation of
TEEB, a workshop will be held on the Isle of Vilm,
Germany, 21-25 May 2013. It is organized by the German
Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (
BfN),
UNEP-
TEEB, the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental
Research (
UFZ)
and Alterra Wageningen University
and Research Centre. The workshop specifically targets those involved in the elaboration of country studies. It builds on previous
TEEB related events
and focuses on the following aspects: - experiences with the implementation
and use of national
TEEB processes, - how to best capture
and further develop supranational support (
UNEP,
EU etc.)
and to link results to
CBD and the implementation of the
EU Biodiversity Strategy, - how to utilize
TEEB results to foster sustainable use of ecosystems
and biodiversity at all levels. Attendance by invitation only!
