European fire-bellied toad und European tree frog populations

Support priority:

Sustaining species diversity: Reintroducing and protecting highly endangered plants and animals

Location:

Area between lake Schaalsee and Elbetal valley, Landkreis (district) of Ludwigslust, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

Period:

2/2001 - 12/2002 (Preliminary study)

Short description:

The overall objective of the testing and development project is to create extensive networks between the main distribution areas of European fire-bellied toad and European tree frog populations in the area around lake Schalsee and the Elbetal valley. This should stabilize current populations and enable expansion of populations towards one another. To this end, the preliminary study will need to incorporate surveys of the actual distribution and inventory of the species concerned, factors causing isolation, possibilities for networking sub-populations, and opportunities for implementing essential conservation measures.
