Brief description
This project tests the use of ecologically sensitive measures to revitalise the natural environment in the Ise river basin, an area largely shaped by farming. The measures let the watercourse develop naturally while permitting nature-friendly use of alluvial meadows. Conservation measures, including sustainable forms of land use, have been developed for the purpose and implemented on a long-term and largely voluntary basis with stakeholders in the region – the farming, forestry and water bodies management association, local government and politicians, local inhabitants, regional business and industry, and recreational users.
