- Questions relating to the identification, delineation, classification, endangerment, assessment, protection and development of landscapes, including the development of future-focused management and land use strategies
- Developing success monitoring methods and monitoring success in habitat and landscape conservation
- Issues relating to protected areas and habitats at national level, particularly regarding large-scale protected areas (national parks, biosphere reserves and nature parks), including the ongoing development of national and international policies on protected areas
- Issues relating to national (German government) and international (EU) activities relating to protected areas; coordinating national implementation of the EU Habitats Directive and Birds Directive
